GST Calculator
Calculate CGST, SGST and IGST instantly. Add GST to a base amount or remove GST from a total — accurate for all GST slabs (0%, 5%, 12%, 18%, 28%).
Understanding GST: CGST, SGST and IGST
GST (Goods and Services Tax) in India is charged as either CGST + SGST (for transactions within the same state) or IGST (for transactions between two different states). For an intra-state sale, the GST rate is split equally between CGST (Central GST) and SGST (State GST) — for example, an 18% GST rate becomes 9% CGST + 9% SGST. For an inter-state sale, the full rate is charged as IGST (Integrated GST) and collected by the central government.
Add GST vs Remove GST
Add GST takes a base amount (excluding tax) and calculates the GST to be added, giving you the final amount inclusive of tax. Remove GST does the reverse — it takes a total amount (inclusive of tax) and works backward to find the base amount and the GST portion within it.
Example
If the base price of a service is Rs. 10,000 and GST is 18%: GST amount = Rs. 1,800 (Rs. 900 CGST + Rs. 900 SGST for an intra-state supply, or Rs. 1,800 IGST for an inter-state supply). Total invoice value = Rs. 11,800.
If a total (GST-inclusive) amount of Rs. 11,800 needs the GST removed at 18%: Base amount = Rs. 11,800 / 1.18 = Rs. 10,000, and GST = Rs. 1,800.
GST Calculator — Frequently Asked Questions
Is this GST calculator accurate?
Yes. It uses the standard GST formulas notified under Indian GST law for adding or removing GST at the 0%, 5%, 12%, 18% and 28% slabs, and splits the tax correctly into CGST + SGST or IGST depending on the transaction type you select.
How do I use the Add GST and Remove GST options?
Choose "Add GST" when you have a base amount and want to know the tax and final invoice value. Choose "Remove GST" when you have a total (tax-inclusive) amount, such as an invoice value, and want to find out the base price and the GST portion within it.
Which GST rate should I select?
The applicable GST rate depends on the goods or service involved and is set by the GST Council — common slabs are 0%, 5%, 12%, 18% and 28%. If you are unsure which rate applies to your product or service, LawBridge Associates can help you check.
